FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Gurnee Park District Commissioner Open Seat for April 2023 Consolidated Election
Gurnee, Illinois – Gurnee Park District has one open seat on its Board of Commissioners for the April 2023 Consolidated Election. If you have an interest in park district programs and services; a desire to serve the community; and work with a great team of Board members and staff, please consider running in the 2023 Election. This is a non-partisan election and the board position is voluntary.
Gurnee Park District's mission is to promote fun and preserve nature. It is through this mission that the district provides enjoyable activities and events to the Gurnee community while also working to preserve nature for current and future generations. As elected officials, Board Members' main purpose is to uphold and set the general policies of Gurnee Park District. Duties include serving the people of Gurnee and their needs by fielding feedback, concerns, or suggestions, working alongside the Gurnee Park District Executive Director, assisting with budgetary strategies and approvals, as well as helping to maintain the district's values to the public. Board meetings are held once a month on the third Tuesday at 7:00pm at Viking Park.
The open seat is for a 4-year term. Residency of one year within the park district boundaries is required. Board Candidate Petition Packets can be picked up at Viking Park, 4374 Old Grand Avenue, Monday-Friday 9am-4pm. Petitions must be filed between December 12 - 19, 2022.
