Trick-or-Treat with Gurnee Park District!

On Saturday, October 16th, Gurnee Park District will host one of its favorite fall traditions, the Trick-or-Treat Path at Viking Park! This event was not held last fall due to COVID-19 restrictions. With that said, we are all excited here at Gurnee Park District to welcome back path goers and volunteers, as well as new Supervisor of Community Programs and Events, Mary Lester.

The Trick-or-Treat Path is a great way for children to get in some early trick-or-treating and meet some of their favorite friendly characters. The path is geared for children between the ages of 1-8. Parents are asked to join in the fun and walk throughout the path with their child(ren), but do not need to register. When walking the path, you can expect to see characters such as your favorite Disney princesses, super heroes, Winnie the Pooh and friends, the Sesame Street gang, and MORE!

Taking part in the event is simple. You can either register your child(ren) beforehand here, or you can pay in cash on the day of the event ($7R/$10NR). There are three time slots to register for (1:00pm, 2:00pm, 3:00pm).

Please plan to arrive at least a half hour before your scheduled time-slot. Also, should there be inclement weather in the forecast, please check the Gurnee Park District rainout line or call 847-623-7788.

Other reminders/tips for the event include:

  • The Trick-or-Treat Path is held at Viking Park on Saturday, October 16 from 1:00-3:45pm
  • Dress for the weather! This event is held outdoors
  • Bring your camera/phone to take pictures! There are a variety of photo ops placed throughout the path
  • Bring a bag/bucket for candy! (Please note: Gurnee Park District makes an effort to provide peanut-free candy, however, we cannot guarantee processing or packaging procedures)
  • Please follow the signs for parking information. Parking will take place in the lots at Viking Park.

The path could not be possible without all of the wonderful volunteers who help to put this event on. "This year, we have over 40 volunteers helping with the path," stated Mary Lester, the new Supervisor of Community Programs and Events at Gurnee Park District. "I am so impressed with the enthusiasm and overall excitement our volunteers have shared thus far. I can't wait to be a part of this event and future events here at Gurnee Park District."

For any questions, please contact Mary Lester at 847-599-3745, or visit We can't wait to see you there!
